Tuesday’s practice was the first practice open to the media since Thursday's win over Southern Utah. Today saw a somewhat of a calm start that never seemed to really pick up. A couple of mistakes did have Kenny Dillingham visibly frustrated as the team looks forward to Oklahoma State this Saturday.

During stretch line observations, Colorado WR transfer Jordyn Tyson was in full pads as well today, along with Drew Pyne. Both players returning from injury as Pyne has been in full gear recently but this being Tyson’s first practice in full gear since transferring from Colorado.

The beginning stretch lines came and went as the team broke the huddle going into the special teams period. This period being emphasized by field goals. Dario Longhetto was 5-8 with two kicks going wide left and the other going wide right.

After the short special teams period, the team broke into individual drills. Looking at the offensive line, Saga Tuitele was directing the lineman under a shoot to begin the day. Focusing on the left tackle position, the competition between Bram Walden and Isaia Glass did not so much take shape early in practice as drills were very concise but would move along later in practice.

The third period of practice was the tempo period that saw Jaden Rashada take the field with DeCarlos Brooks beside him to start. Brooks carried the bulk of the load this drive with four rushes which seemed to gain some decent yardage. Rashada had a bit of a rocky start going 1-3 with an interception. The last play was a would-be sack.

The second group, led by Trenton Bourget, started bringing the ball back the other way as Tevin White was relied on heavily on this drive, similar to Brooks and the first group. White had three straight rushes, with the second being a huge run on the right side. Dillingham ran down the field towards White, saying, “How many plays in a row Tev?!”. Bourguet, this series was also 1-3 setting up a Longhetto field goal that was good.

After tempo, the offense moved over to the other field going against a scout team defense. This time was not only first group oriented but also very running game oriented. Joey Ramos saw some time at right guard, while Cam Skattebo, Brooks, and Kyson Brown all saw carries.

Another Individual period followed as looking at the offensive line again, Tuitele was very vocal in trying to instill initiative. He told his linemen to take what they went over in meetings and carry it over onto the field, so they’re not wasting reps. In this case, both left tackles (Glass and Walden) and even both right guards sharing time (Cade Briggs and Joey Ramos) look good, but the game reps look to be the difference as the line is not 100% solidified.

Moving over to the receivers and quarterbacks, we saw a lot of throwing on the run. As most routes on air, things looked smooth with a couple of misplaced balls. Tyson during this time, ran some routes being encouraged by his position coach Ra'Shaad Samples. Tyson back on the practice field before week two is a great sign, but there still seems to be a long ways to go in his rehab.

A team segment followed the individual drills again as these drives were kept short. The first group saw Walden in while Cam Skattebo got a carry, with Brooks having two more. Rashada's only ball being dropped by Xavier Guillory. The second group saw a little more action, with Bourguet having two completions. Tevin White had a huge hole leading to a great gain. Longhetto had another field goal attempt at that was good.

Quickly looking at another special teams period, Melquan Stovall still assumed the starting punt returning duties. Today saw Keith Abney II, Javen Jacobs and Tyson back there getting reps as well. Punter Josh Carlson also seemed to be mixing up the punt variations today as well.

After special teams, another team period ensued. The first group and drive being quick with Rashada connecting with Guillory, but it was a would-be sack. Going back and forth on drives, Bourguet went 2-3 in the second drive. The third drive saw the Rashada-Guillory connection count this time as Rashada was 2-3. Another drive saw Bourguet go 1-3, and Rashada's last drive of the period went 2-2. This period saw a lot of new installs for the upcoming game.

Bypassing an interesting rotation team period that saw a mix of a lot of scout players, 7v7 came along and saw both quarterbacks being efficient. Rashada was 5-8 while Bourguet was 4-5 with a near interception. Dillingham, in between rotations yelling for the players to speak up on their assignments.

An offense versus scout team defense period would conclude practice as Rashada's time was highlighted by a route completed to Brooks for what would have been a touchdown. This period also saw Rashada throw his second pick of the day on a deep ball caught by a scout team player on the far side of the field. Besides the heavy running involved, Bourguet found Brown downfield for a completion twice. Although quarterbacks looked good, there were a lot of dropped balls, reflecting the energy of practice.

As an overview today, a lot of dropped balls on the offensive side. The run game looks to be moving forward though there is still a lot of rotation. At tackle, Walden looks to have won today, finishing the latter half of practice with the first group, but tomorrow should be more telling.
