Heavyweight Cohlton Schultz, ranked as the nation’s No. 1 wrestler in some rankings for the high school class of 2019, has committed to sign with Arizona State.

Schultz is a three-time Colorado state champion for Ponderosa High School. He was 2017 Cadet Greco-Roman World champion at 220 pounds, the first American to win a title at that event since 1997.

ASU heavyweight Tanner Hall is going into his senior season so Schultz could compete as a true freshman in 2019-20 as Hall’s replacement.

FloWrestling ranks Schultz No. 1 at 285 pounds and pound-for-pound over all weight classes in its latest 2018-19 high school rankings.

ASU also has commitments from Nick Raimo of Hanover Park, N.J., Zane Coleman of Choctaw, Okla., and Julian Chlebove of Northampton, Pa. Raimo is ranked No. 7 at 132 pounds by FloWrestling and Coleman is No. 10 at 182.

ASU has won the past two Pac-12 championships and was 10th at the 2018 NCAA Championships when Zahid Valencia capped an undefeated season with a 174 title.
