Arizona State currently has 11 commitments for the 2016 class, and looks to be assembling a class on par with their recent successes. Over the last 7 months I've had the opportunity to see quite a few of these prospects in person. I figured why not put together a shopping list of who I'd like to see commit to the Maroon and Gold.
Defensive Line
Commits: Christian Hill
Uncommitted wish list: While Garrett Rand and Connor Murphy have high ceilings, and could go a long way to help ASU continue to build a local recruiting base, there are a couple of JuCo prospects I place a higher premium on in the 2016 recruiting class. 6-4, 260 pass rushing specialist Dougladson Subtyl shows a rare combination of size and speed, and Fort Scott CC DE Koron Krump is someone who may even be suited for the devilbacker roll. The high school lineman I feel that has the biggest upside is DE Levi Onwuzurike, who currently has ASU in his top 10.
If I could flip anyone: Hunter Kampmoyer, the one-time ASU commit who's now at Oregon. Kampmoyer's recruitment skyrocketed for a reason, and I expect him to have a solid college career.
Linebacker
Commits:N/A
Uncommitted wish list: Chris Baccus of NE Oklahoma A&M seems to be holding out for more offers than the 12 he currently carries, but ASU was in early, and Baccus an opportunity to be one of those players ASU helps get from JuCo to the next level. Calvin Bundage, a prep prospect out of Oklahoma is another intriguing prospect. Texas prep LB Kevin Moore could be leaning toward Texas Tech, but would be one of my top priorities.
If I could flip anyone: Oklahoma commit Bryce Youngquist reminds me of Brandon Magee, and was one of the better linebackers in pass coverage that I've seen at various camps.
Defensive backs
Commits: J'Marcus Rhodes, Robbie Robinson
Uncommitted wish list: I may be in the minority, but I like local Saguaro athlete Byron Murphy as an offensive playmaker as much as I like him at corner. Either way, he'd help the Sun Devils. My number one priority at the corner position for the 2016 class would be Jack Jones, and at safety would be Chacho Ulloa. They see, and play well against elite wideouts every week in California. Lamar Jackson and Shurod Thompson also have the ability to come in and make an impact at safety right away. A cornerback that seems to have a lot of pull and respect in California is Jordan Parker, and landing him could go a long way toward paving even more inroads into California.
If I could flip anyone: CJ Pollard, a USC commit, could play corner or safety, and has plenty of upside. The player I covet most, however, is DeSoto, Texas DB AJ Green, who multiple Texas prep wideouts have told me is the best defensive back they've faced.
Local 2016 offensive players without ASU offers that are worth a look:
DL: DJ Davidson, Roy Lopez
LB: Walker Adams, Bozton Sanders, Hamilcar Rashed, Wesley Payne (JuCo)
DB: Markell Simmons (JuCo), Isaac Steele
