I will publish my thoughts on the game this afternoon, but for now here are the notes courtesy of Media Relations:

ASU’s 31 regular–season wins under Coach Graham (2012-15) are the most regular-season wins in a four-year span since 1980-83, and the team’s 34 total wins are the most since 1975-78.

Strike First

ASU held a 10-3 lead after the opening quarter, and the Sun Devils have now outscored the opposition 471-247 in the first quarter of games under Coach Graham.

ASU went up 3-0 in the first quarter, and the Sun Devils have scored first in seven games this season after tonight, and are 5-2 on the year when doing so and 28-8 overall under Coach Graham.

Leading At The Half

The Sun Devils are now 29-3 under Todd Graham when leading at halftime after taking a 27-10 lead into the half tonight.

Offense

Strike Slow

ASU’s first scoring drive in the fourth quarter lasted 6 minutes, 29 seconds on 15 plays, making it the longest scoring drive in terms of time for the Sun Devils this season.

Six of ASU’s 10 offensive scoring drives in the game came in three minutes or longer (60 percent) after only 29 percent this season came in three minutes or longer, and 27 percent in the four seasons under offensive coordinator Mike Norvell

In Berco We Trust

With 395 passing yards tonight, quarterback Mike Bercovici moved into sole possession of fourth place on the school’s single-season passing yards list with 3,436.

Gold Zone

ASU went a season-best 9-for-9 inside the red zone tonight with three touchdowns and six field goals. They moved to 51-for-59 on scoring inside the red zone this season, with 31-for-59 resulting in touchdowns.

Lucien Finds His Groove

Wide receiver Devin Lucien caught a career-best three touchdowns and recorded a career-high 200 receiving yards on eight catches. It marked the first three touchdown game at ASU since Jaelen Strong had three against USC in 2014. The school record is four, accomplished three times (Shaun McDonald once each in ’01 and ’02 and John Allen in 1953).

His 10-yard touchdown in the first quarter gave him a touchdown in three straight games and four of the past five contests.

Lucien now has 390 yards on 17 catches (22.9 yards per catch) with four touchdowns in the past two games

Foster The People

With his nine-yard catch in the first quarter, wide receiver D.J. Foster extended his nation-leading streak of 52 consecutive games with a pass reception, the Pac-12 record and every game he has played as a Sun Devil

With 32 receiving yards in the game, Foster moved into sixth place on ASU’s list for career receiving yards.

Super DeMario

Running back Demario Richard crossed the 1,000-yard rushing mark with his 22-yard carry in the third quarter. It is the 22nd time in ASU history a player has reached the 1,000-yard milestone.

ASU has had a 1,000-yard rusher in back-to-back seasons (Foster in 2014, Richard in 2015) for the first time since 1996 and 1997 (Terry Battle and Michael Martin) and just the second time since 1974-75 (Freddie Williams)

Richard notched 131 rushing yards on the night for his seventh game this season with 100-plus rushing yards, and Richard is now just one of three Sun Devils to accomplish the feat (Woody Green with 7 in 1972 ad ‘73, Freddie Williams with 8 in 1975)

Richard ran the ball a career-high 33 times (previous high was 25)

ASU notched 12 explosive plays on the night, including eight through the air and four on the ground. Lucien led the way with four.

Quarterback Manny Wilkins recorded a career-long 26-yard run midway through the third quarter

Kicker Zane Gonzalez picked up his first two career tackles

Defense

Safety Kareem Orr led Devils with 10 total tackles, the first time in his career he notched double-digit tackles and a career-high six solo tackles.

Special Teams

In-Zane In The Membrane

Gonzalez now with 113 points this season to become the first player in school history to record 100 or more career points in three different seasons.

Gonzalez now has 366 career points, currently second in ASU history, and now 14 points behind Zendejas’ school record of 380 points.

With his sixth field goal of the game, Zane Gonzalez has now made 12 straight field goals dating back to the second half of the Oregon contests – his longest streak of the season.

Gonzalez now has 22 field goals this season and becomes the first ASU kicker ever to have 20 or more field goals in three different seasons. In fact, only Luis Zendejas had two such seasons before. No other player outside Zendejas and Gonzalez have had more than one.

Gonzalez has six field goals in a game, a new career best, tied for the Pac-12 single-game record, and the ASU single-game record. It’s the fourth time in his career he has four or more field goals, setting a school record for most games with four or more field goals, breaking a tie with Thomas Weber (3).

Gonzalez has now scored a point in each of the 40 games he has played at ASU. The school record is 45 games, held by Luis Zendejas.

With 69 career field goals, Gonzalez now has more field goals than any other player in the country that is not a senior, and the second-most field goals in school history.

Haack

Punter Matt Haack notched a career-long 73-yard punt near the start of the third quarter that flipped ASU from its own 21-yard line to the Cal 6-yard line. It tied for the eighth-best punt in ASU history.

Haack, who entered the game leading the Pac-12 in punts inside the 20 and punts over 50 yards, dropped two of his three punts inside the 20 and onefor more than 50 yards

Tim White

With 55 kickoff return yards, Tim White moved into second place for most kickoff return yards in a single-season at ASU with 795, trailing Rudy Burgess with 879 in 2007.
