For a discussion elsewhere, I researched the turnovers by Berco and TK in 2014. Some pretty interesting stuff, that though not massive in quantity, still had a severe impact on the season.
Taylor Kelly
UNM - Fumble lost (TD scored 5 plays later)
UW - Interception (Returned for TD)
Utah - Interception (FG scored 8 plays later)
ND - Interception (TD scored 7 plays later)
OSU - Interception (End of half 5 plays later)
OSU - Interception (Returned for TD)
UA - Fumble Lost - (Returned for TD)
Seven total turnovers. Three returned for TDs. 38 total points allowed.
Mike Bercovici
UCLA - Interception (Punt 8 plays later)
UCLA - Interception (Returned for TD)
UCLA - Fumble lost (TD scored 2 plays later)
Utah - Interception (End of regulation; Hail Mary attempt)
UA - Interception (TD scored 2 plays later)
Five total turnovers. One returned for a TD. 21 total points allowed.
Five games had no QB turnovers. No surprise, all wins: Colorado, USC, Stanford, WSU, Duke.
Total: 12 QB turnovers. Four returned for TDs (two more TDs scored within two plays after the turnover). So 6 of 12 QB turnovers resulted in immediate or quick TDs. 59 total points surrendered by QB turnovers.
Wonder what would have been if the OSU pick-six hadn't happened? Could ASU have kept momentum without the crushing 95-yard pick-six against UCLA? What if the fumble for TD against UofA?
The QB's didn't turn the ball over a ton, but there were some drastic results.
