TEMPE, Ariz. – Arizona State junior running back Eno Benjamin was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District® VIII First Team, according to an announcement by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The 2019 Academic All-District® Football Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes football honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
A Business major, Benjamin maintains a 3.34 cumulative GPA. On the field, Benjamin leads ASU with 731 yards rushing and is fourth in the Pac-12 with seven rushing touchdowns this season. His nine total touchdowns are fifth in the league, while his 252 receiving yards are fourth among all FBS running backs.
Benjamin has recorded 13 career games with at least 100 rushing yards - tied for fifth in program history with Demario Richard and needing just one to move into a tie for fourth. Benjamin enters this weekend's action with 2,515 career rushing yards. He is within 200 yards of leaping from 13th to seventh – Darryl Clack (2,711 yards/1982-85) – on ASU's career list for most rushing yards.
Last season, Benjamin set school records for most rushing yards in a single season (1,642 yards) and a single game (312 yards). Benjamin's season rushing total tied for fifth in the nation. He also finished first in the Pac-12 and ninth in the nation with 16 rushing touchdowns.
As a first-team Academic All-District® honoree, Benjamin now advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot.
