I talked to the small forward was among an impressive list of 2017 prospects who were in Tempe this past weekend, and at no. 46 was the highest rated prospect who visited ASU on Saturday.
I exchanged texts with him to discuss his visit and recruiting process with the Sun Devils.
On his visit to ASU:
“I enjoyed the campus really liked the facilities and the relationships I established with everyone on staff even the managers. Biggest surprise was just how cool everyone was with each other, and how everyone seemed to be close with each other on the staff.”
How do the coaches see his role if he were to sign with ASU?
“They like how versatile I am and think I could make a big impact from day 1, they think they could really help develop my skill set and help me excel in the Pac-12.”
On his impressions of having so many high caliber recruits on campus at the same time
“They got some good guys coming in and the recruits were cool so I like the type of guys they're looking for to help their program.”
What does he like about ASU’s recruiting style?
“I like the attention being shown and it shows how much they really want me to be a part of their program.”
Lawrence said that he hasn’t set any dates for official visits (although ASU could get a visit on Sep. 23rd). USC, Texas and Pittsburgh are likely visit destinations.
When it’s time for you to choose a school what are the main aspects you will consider?
“The biggest things would be the relationship with the head coach and staff, the type of guys that are on the team and they are recruiting, playing time, how they'll utilize me, and how they'll help me get to the next level.”
