The Star pointed that out this morning in acknowledging that ASU has scheduled Kentucky next season at their place with a return engagement the following year in the Bahamas...we also play UNLV, TAMU, St John's and Creighton and will be part of the Legends Classic that has NC State, Marquette and LSU in addition to the Sun Devils...
Per Bobby Hurley..."there's no reason ASU can't contend (for championships) and compete against the likes of Arizona and UCLA on a year to year basis...that's my goal"...
I don't know about you but I'd rather play and lose to Kentucky than play and beat Utah Tech at home...if I knew that I would run into Ashley Judd, who is a huge Wildcat supporter, in Lexington, I might just make that trip...
I meant to save a recent Star article where they pointed out that Sean Miller's scheduling paled in comparison to the good old Lute days when the Cats scheduled games with big programs all of the time...teams nowadays are pretty picky about who they play and where they play and many teams know that playing AU in McKale will mean that the Cats get more than their fair share of calls and, as a result, will go to the line two to three times that of a visiting team, so it is no easy place to play, given the crowd and stature of the program...
The article didn't point that out but that's what typically happens, as we all know, when you play the Cats at their place...
Anyway, it was interesting because their home schedule has been pretty modest for an elite program under Miller and there are some season ticket holders who aren't thrilled with that since they are paying really big bucks for their tickets...
I hope that Bobby keeps on scheduling these type of opponents because that's how you show the world that you're not afraid to schedule anyone and it pays off come Dance time if you have any sort of success at all...
Championships or Bust...Go Devils!!!
