Ray Anderson has it and it is very seductive as he plans to take an NIT basketball program at ASU and transform it into a NCAA tournament program immediately, if not sooner...

He's already hired a new baseball coach and given his blessing to making hockey a Division One sport at ASU...

By firing Sendek, he's admitted to a mistake in granting him an extension last year and is now pursuing a coach who can transform the basketball program the way Graham has elevated the football program...

The only problem I can see is that he didn't have anything to do with the hiring of Graham, who ended up at ASU by accident, after the athletic powers that be and the president screwed up the hiring after Erickson was fired...

Additionally, WFA is in need of renovation and although money was found from boosters to buy out Herb, ASU does not have its own money making machine so can't just print currency to pay for facilities and coaches...

So, that's where "chutzpah" comes in...you act boldly in the face of daunting obstacles, not because you are totally foolish, but because nothing great comes without a lot of risk...

ASU is used to coming to the poker table with a modest stack of chips and is usually quick to drop out of poker hands when the stakes get higher than they are comfortable with betting...

Additionally, RA doesn't have a large grubstake with which to begin his coaching search, if we are to believe the financial parameters he has outlined for the job...

Again, this is where "chutzpah" comes into play when playing high stakes poker with modest resources...

Can he bluff his way to a big win or will he have lady luck on his side during the game..??

None of the coaching names thrown out so far have much of an ooh and awe appeal to them that I can see but RA has been around the block at the highest levels, so I'm certainly okay with riding this search out and trusting that he will find the right person to make ASU a Dance program rather than a Not Invited Tournament program...

One thing is for sure...there is a lot going on behind the scenes I'm sure and I'm looking forward to seeing how this all plays out...

The guy definitely has chutzpah...Go Devils!!!
