Coaching Errors in Today’s Game

1. Not taking the three points late in the first half. Herm just said in the postgame show that they went for it on fourth down because he wanted to go up by two scores (that was also said after halftime too). A field goal is going up two scores. That makes no sense.
2. Allowing our returners to consistently take the ball out of the end zone and never getting to the 25 yard line.
3. Trying to run it on second down so often when we clearly weren’t having success.
4. Not calling a timeout after first down on San Diego States last drive. If he calls a timeout and everything happens the same than we would have gotten the ball back with 40 additional seconds left. It makes no sense to not call a timeout on first down. Also if you don’t call a timeout it allows the opposing team to throw it on third down because you are going to stop the clock anyway.

As great as Herm was with the coaching decisions and time outs last week, he was that terrible this week.
