If Patterson relieves Rick Barnes of his place at the helm of Texas, I'm not sure ASU would be competing for the same coach, or even same type of coach that Texas would want (Would they go Capel even though he was on the other side of the rivalry? Probably not.)
Tennessee is one that might chase a guy like Hurley (or even Sendek), but they won't pursue Capel for the simple reason that they can't have anyone who's ever even been peripherally involved with sanctions before.
It looks like ASU wouldn't have competition for Capel, and that they'd have more money for Hurley than Buffalo, DePaul or UT.
The only competition I see here is if Patterson decided to chase after Michael White, Steve Lavin or Hurley, because they have a deeper warchest- then again, Barnes may do what it takes to save his job and stick around at Texas.
