ASU hangs on for a five point win, 62-67.

Coming out of last media timeout, 2:29 left on the clock. ASU leads 58-54.

ASU inbounds with 2:29. Stanford is in a zone defense. After not doing much, Holder drives the middle of the defense for a contested layup. Stan 54, ASU 60

1:53 - Stanford gets the ball to Chaison Randle, who travels while trying to penetrate and kick to a teammate.

1:41 - Holder dribbles through the press, getting it to McKissic who attacks the basket from the left side, getting called for a charge under the basektball.

1:26 - Stanford runs a set play to get Randle a three - Marcus Allen dribbles to the right corner after a fake left screen from Nastic. Because of the fake screen, Holder is caught off guard and Jacobsen has to keep Allen in front of him down to the corner while Holder recovers to his man. Jacobsen's man, Nastic, sets a screen on Barnes (who was set up perfectly for the screen by Randle) with Randle curling from the FT line, around Nastic's screen, and out to the 3pt line on the right side. Because Jacobsen is helping on Allen in the corner, he is not available to help on Randle. The shot is wide open and Randle makes it. NOTE: this was set up by how Holder defended Allen, not Jacobsen's break down. Stan 57, ASU 60

1:15 - ASU doesn't get a shot off, shot clock violation, against a zone. McKissic raised for a three point shot and passed it crazily after the defender closed, clumsily passing it back to Holder up top. Holder and the wings basically pass it around without trying to probe the defense, leaving Holder to have to try a wild layup as the shot clock expires.

0:39 - Stanford runs the basic set that got Randle the wide open 3 in their last possession. This time, the primary target for Stanford on the play is for Allen to pass it along the baseline to the opposite corner, where a shooter is waiting for the pass and an open 3pt shot. McKissic sniffs it out and intercepts the pass, quickly passing it back to Goodman as McKissic falls out of bounds. Stanford immediately fouls. NOTE: Barnes also sniffed this play out and Randle would not have had an open 3 if the ball had gone to him.

0:30- Goodman makes the first of the one and one, misses the second. Getting one is huge, as it makes it a two possession game. Stan 57, ASU 61

0:29 - Randle brings the ball up, Goodman's man screens Barnes (who is guarding Randle) and Goodman switches, doing a good job keeping Randle from driving into the middle. Randle passes the ball to Nastic, who is behind the 3pt line, top of the key, just off left. He drives with his right hand, using a Randle screen to get ahead of Jacobsen. Stanford's timing on the play must have been off some, because Goodman's former man (Roscoe Allen, now guarded by Barnes) runs to the top of the key, bringing Barnes with him. Barnes is now in Nastic's path and swipes at his dribble, knocking it away. Barnes recovers, dribbles the length of the floor, and is fouled as he makes the layup. Stan 57, ASU 63

0:18 - Barnes hits the FT. Stan 57, ASU 64

0:18 - Randle gets the ball from the inbounder, dribbles the length of the floor, stops just outside the 3pt line and makes a three. Barnes does a good job making him dribble in the backcourt to get the clock running, but doesn't even put a hand up on the shot to contest. Stan 60, ASU 64

0:13 - the FT shooting contest begins. Blakes hits one of two but a lane violation gives him another that he makes. Stan 60, ASU 66.

0:13 - Stanford runs up, missing a shot.

0:05 - Holder gets fouled, makes one of two. Stan 60, ASU 67

0:05 - Stanford dribbles the length of the floor, making a layup.

0:01 - ASU inbounds, game ends.
