SAN FRANCISCO - Sophomore Dohnovan West was named the Pac-12 Offensive Lineman of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.

Coming off a 70-7 thrashing of rival Arizona to claim the Territorial Cup for the fourth-straight year, West becomes the fourth Sun Devil to earn a weekly conference award. He joins Michael Turk (Special Teams) and Merlin Robertson (Defensive) from November 9 and Tyler Johnson (Defensive Lineman) from last week in receiving the recognition.

West earns the status as Pac-12 Offensive Lineman of the Week after paving the way for a historic offensive performance. The Sun Devil offense scored 70 points in the 2020 edition of the Territorial Cup, the second-most points in program history (trailing only the 79 points scored against Colorado State in 1969).
The starting left guard for the Maroon & Gold has built off his Freshman All-American season, developing into one of the best interior blockers in the conference. Arizona State rushed for 259 yards against Arizona and are averaging over 227 yards rushing this season. West helped the Sun Devils accumulate nearly 500 yards of offense in the Territorial Cup. Thanks to his fantastic play, he was the highest graded guard in the Pac-12 for Week 15 and the second-highest graded offensive lineman in the league (74.3). He was the eighth-highest graded guard in the entire nation for the weekend with that score.

The Mission Hills, Calif. native is currently the highest graded offensive guard in the Pac-12 this season with a score of 78.3 – four points higher than the next closest guard in the league. It is the 22nd-highest grade of any guard in the country. He has the second-highest pass blocking efficiency score of any guard in the Pac-12 with a mark of 99.0 while allowing a QB pressure on just 1.9 percent of his snaps this season- the second-lowest total among guards in the league. He ranks in the top nationally among all FBS guards in both categories.

West did not allow a single QB pressure for the weekend and has only allowed two on the entire season. He has yet to have allowed a sack on the year. The two total pressures allowed are tied for the second fewest among any guard in the Pac-12.

The 70 points are the most scored by ASU in Territorial Cup history (previous RECORD was 61 in 1951) and the most scored by either team in series history. It also represents the most points scored by the Sun Devils in a Pac-10/12 Conference game and the most points allowed by Arizona in a Pac-10/12 Conference game. The 63 point difference is the largest margin of victory for the Sun Devils in the series.

Arizona State has now scored 455 points over their past 11 matchups with Arizona, averaging 41.4 points per game. This is the sixth time ASU has scored 50+ points against Arizona (three have come in the last decade; 2013, 2015, & 2020).

New this season, all weekly Pac-12 football awards will be presented by Nextiva, the Pac-12's Official Communications Partner. At the conclusion of the season, Nextiva will also present Pac-12 annual performance awards, including Offensive Player of the Year, Freshman Offensive Player of the Year, Freshman Defensive Player of the Year and Coach of the Year.

The Sun Devil football team is scheduled to close out the 2020 regular season at Oregon State on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. PT/8:30 p.m. MT. The game will be televised by ESPN.
