2018-- Jones , then an incoming 6'4" 180 lb true frosh (who has now "shrunk" to 6''2" 211) 4-star 5.9 Rivals recruit was behind RS Soph and returning 11 game starter Feleipe Franks (a 4 star 6.0 Rivals recruit who also started all 13 in 2018, the 1st 3 games in 2019 and eventually made the Atlanta Falcons roster as an UDFA in 2021) and behind future NFL 2nd round pick RS Soph Kyle Trask(then a 6'5" 225 lb who was a 2 star 5.3 Rivals recruit). Jones played in 4 games and redshirted. JD was a 6'3" 150 lb (before eventually peaking at 179 lbs) HS senior 4-star 5.9 Rivals recruit
2019--Jones was behind Franks, who started the 1st 3 games and behind Kyle Trask, who started the next 10. Jones played sparingly in 11 games. JD started as a true frosh in 12 games
2020--Jones was behind returning 10 game starter Trask (who also started all 12 games in 2020), Jones played sparingly in 9 games but wrapped up the season in a blowout loss to #8 Oklahoma going 8-16, 86 yds and rushing 10 times for 60 yards in the 4th quarter. JD started all 4 games in 2020
2021--Jones got his first 13 starts and JD started his final 13 at ASU

As a grad transfer Jones could decide on his next stop anytime before the 1st game. He has 2 seasons of eligibility but is likely hoping to only play 1
