SAN FRANCISCO – Legendary Arizona State football coach Frank Kush will be posthumously honored in Las Vegas in March as part of the 2019 Pac-12 Hall of Honor class.

Formal induction will take place on Friday, Mar. 15 during a ceremony prior to the semifinals of the 2019 Pac-12 Men’s Basketball Tournament, presented by New York Life. Coach Kush’s son, Dan Kush, who was a placekicker for the Sun Devils under his dad’s leadership in 1976, will accept the award on his father’s behalf.

Frank Kush, the winningest coach in Sun Devil Football history, was a part of the ASU family from 1955 until his death in 2017, serving in many roles over the years including head coach, assistant coach, administrator, and ambassador.

Kush won 176 games, the most in school history, across 21.5 seasons and was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1995. The Hall of Famer, who holds the ASU football record for most postseason victories, has also been inducted into the Peach Bowl Hall of Fame, Michigan State Hall of Fame, and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Lott Impact Trophy.

The 2019 Hall of Honor will be the 18th since its creation in 2002 and the second to feature legendary figures from multiple sports after the Pac-12 expanded the field last season to be inclusive of the broad-based athletics success of the Conference of Champions.

Among the combined accolades of this year’s inductee class includes 14 Olympic medals, nine bowl victories, eight Pac-12 All-Century Team honorees, seven All-Americans, five NCAA team/individual national champions, four Super Bowl victories, two Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame members, two College Football Hall of Fame members, two Olympic Hall of Fame members, one Naismith Hall of Fame member, and one back-to-back World Series winner.

Celebrating the broad-based example of excellence, the 2019 Pac-12 Hall of Honor class is part of a rich history of champions for the conference. The Pac-12 leads the list for the most NCAA titles by any league with 516 across 29 sports, including nation-leading totals for men’s (301), women’s (185), and combined (30).

Alongside Coach Kush, other honorees for 2019 include Meg Ritchie-Stone (Arizona/Track & Field), Natalie Coughlin (Cal/Women’s Swimming), Lisa Van Goor (Colorado/Women’s Basketball), Bev Smith (Oregon/Women’s Basketball), Dick Fosbury (Oregon State/Track & Field), Dick Gould (Stanford/Men’s Tennis), Ann Meyers Drysdale (UCLA/Women’s Basketball), Ronnie Lott (USC/Football), Steve Smith Sr. (Utah/Football), Patricia “Trish” Bostrom (Washington/Women’s Tennis), and John Olerud (Washington State/Baseball).
