Friday Practice Report

ASU was back inside the bubble this morning. Tim White, Sam Jones, Grant Martinez, Cam Smith and Dillon Faamatau were all in green.

Tim White didn't participate in ball security drills at all with the wide receivers. Josh Martin was working with the running backs while Todd Graham watched the o-line, a group he doesn't usually focus on.

11 on 11:

Shawn Slocum was in charge of pumping up the crowd noise as the team did another 2-minute situational drive. I couldn't overhear the details of timeouts etc since Graham didn't have a mic on today.

First-team offense: Mike Bercovici (QB), Kalen Ballage (RB), D.J. Foster (WR), Ellis Jefferson (WR), Gump Hayes (WR), Kody Kohl (TE), Evan Goodman (LT), Christian Westerman (LG), Nick Kelly (C), Stephon McCray (RG), and Billy McGehee (RT).

First-team defense: Edmond Boateng (DE), Demetrius Cherry (nose), Ami Latu (Tiger), Christian Sam (WILL), Antonio Longino (DEVIL), Salamo Fiso (SAM), Laiu Moeakiola (SPUR), Lloyd Carrington (CB), Kweishi Brown (CB), Jordan Simone (S), and Armand Perry (S).

As the offense got closer to the goal line, a few substitutions were made.

Ballage switched to defense to DEVIL and Demario Richard came in at running back. Salamo Fiso was switched out for DJ Calhoun at SAM, Christian Sam came out and they bumped Longino to WILL and Jojo Wicker came in at Tiger. Gary Chambers also came in but I didn't see which wide receiver subbed out.

During the drive, Bercovici was extremely mobile in the pocket and got flushed out multiple times by the defense but was still able to create and make plays. Among the highlights were a well-executed wheel route by D.J. Foster for a 20-yard gain.

Ellis Jefferson also jumped up for a Jaelen Strong-esque catch which he brought down and tucked in for a 15-yard gain. Near the end zone, Bercovici threw a fade meant for Gump Hayes which was well defended by Kweishi Brown.

Bercovici was forced to throw the ball away twice on the drive, both of which were offensive line breakdowns. He got out the pocket and then spiked the ball into the ground to save time once he went through his progressions and didn't see any receivers open.

Any questions I'll try and be around
