So this was another big neutral site game and another bad outcome. That has me thinking, as much grief as we give the rats for scheduling three cream puffs, they're going to be 3-0 and we're going to be 2-1. I know we can say we took on a great team, but we still have a loss. So should we continue to schedule the best or should we go the Stooooopid route and go 3-0 by scheduling crappy teams? Here are my thoughts:
Yeah it's exciting playing big name teams in pro-stadiums, but let's face it, we never win these! Sure we get more exposure and the argument can be made that recruits are watching us, but unfortunately they're watching us lose! Furthermore these losses give the conference a black eye. (How many of us filing out heard the aTm fans chanting "S-E-C" at the end?) So are these games worth it? I'm beginning to have my doubt honestly.
Meanwhile the rats played a crappy UTSA team, played like crap, yet had another week to get their stuff together. As much as I hate to say it, last year they started the same way, got some confidence and chemistry, and then put it all together to back their way into a south title. Yes they were exposed in the conference title game and the Fiesta Bowl, but they still had a ten win season with very sub-par players.
So what do you think? I for one think we need to cool it on the neutral site games and unless we can get a home and home, I don't think we should schedule anymore power house teams.
