Got home after the game around midnight and watched the game again on DVR. Man, that was a entertaining game and I observed a lot of terrific play on both sides of the ball. Here are my game balls:
Offense:
Offense:
- Manny Wilkens - His consistency last night was terrific. No turnovers. Was slinging the rock with hard tight spirals on the slants and also threw a bunch of nice touch passes to guys like Kohl. Ran the offense to perfection.
- Kalen Ballage - No surprise here for me. I noted in an earlier post by Hod if we wanted to see more of Ralston and I said if it takes away from Ballage then no. The guy is tough as nails and fast. Game breaker. We need to come up with our own name for when he lines up in the backfield. How about something like the Devil Pitch formation. Maybe we do a survey.
- N'Keal Harry - He just catches everything thrown his way. He is going to be a star.
- Jalen Harvey - Had a quiet but solid game catching the ball. Caught every pass and Manny really zinged a few of them in there to him.
- Zane Gonzalez - Every kickoff went deep and that was important last night.
- Coaches - Very good play calling throughout the game. They had confidence in Manny throwing the ball and did not back off. Liked the new wrinkles they incorporated in the play calling.
- Kareem Orr - Played a very disciplined game against a tough spread offense.
- Gump Hayes - Well, if there were any doubts about him moving to DB then last nights performance put those to bed. He was making solid tackles as well. Two huge picks that sealed the outcome.
- A.J. Latu (#44) - He played well in space last night. Made a lot of nice open field tackles on very shifty backs and receivers.
- Koron Crump - Was all over the field making things happen. Applied a lot of pressure and he is going to make a lot of big plays this year.
- JoJo Wicker - Played a solid game and had the only tip ball on a pass that should of resulted in a pick. I have been harping for two years for our D-lineman to bat more passes down at the line of scrimmage. So he gets a game ball from me just because of that one play.
