Last night was my first look at this young man who is a 2016 OLB for the Wolves. He has great size at 6-4 220 and his frame looks like there might be more to come. He transferred from Caesar Chavez (where he registered 20 sacks last season, including 10 in one game) so undoubtedly is already benefitting from being in a higher profile program. He got a late start with Chandler so he is still learning the system and it showed last night.
Very physical kid and he certainly likes to attack the opposing offensive lineman. What was a bit puzzling was that while he quite often was able to beat his man off the ball and in some cases overpower him he would switch directions and cut back towards the center of the field into another blocker. His tremendous first steps were impressive but he created extra work for himself more often than not. To be fair, this was probably the best team he ever faced as the competition that Chandler will face weekly is pretty solid. He has the tools and once he gets more comfortable with the system and acclimated to his teammates much better results will show. I do think he is someone that we should keep an eye on.
