Obviously it does not benefit the team if CTG were to provide the public (and ultimately his competition) with the team injury report. There is no PUP list or any requirement by the NCAA to supply the masses with this desired info
That said, it was somewhat surprising to me that Cam Smith was not with the 1's on day one of Fall camp. While it would make sense to bring him along slowly, I thought that is what they were doing in the Spring. It seems to me that many top level athletes are able to regain most/all of their speed after rehabilitation from a serious knee surgery as Cam had. However the commonly lingering issue is with cutting ability and stop-n-go pressure.
Griz said something about Bryce Perkins beating Cam in a sprint (I don't think it was a race and I don't necessarily think it was a hotly contested matchup but more of just another wind sprint). Nevertheless it raised eyebrows on on both sides (for Perkins and his obvious speed for his size/position and for Cam to be beat by a QB).
So my long-story-long question is, where do you see Cam Smith in his process of returning to full health and full ability to improve on where he left off in 2014?
Secondly regarding Jalen Harvey, where do you see him in his progress? I know that he has been with the 1's nearly every practice and is trying to secure that spot. I was very impressed with him at the end of last season and in the Spring. This new injury requiring a walking boot, regardless of how minor, will inevitably set him back somewhat when he is trying to lock down a starting spot from some serious competition. Was he performing at a high enough level to be able to take a week off and maintain his spot with the 1's?
Ellis Jefferson is a stud Sun Devil. He is not a great WR, at least not yet. I really feel that other than White (and Cam in previous seasons), no WR on the team has been given as many opportunities to land a starting role as Jefferson and yet he always seems to let it slip away. My opinion has been that he is still somewhat of a baby giraffe athletically and his hands are not great. (it actually appears that his feet get tangled up first, causing his hand-eye coordination to falter). I think that EJ will be extremely valuable if Cam/Harvey/Harry/White were to be injured and unable to perform at their peak ability. I also feel that EJ will be very valuable in 2017. His size is highly desirable and undoubtedly largely contributing the unusually long looks he gets with the 1's.
Finally, I think I read/heard that N'Keal Harry had a slight injury was well. Is that accurate? If so, any update? I am convinced that he is already our 3rd-4th best option at WR and depending upon your answers to the questions above, he may be well worth the risk of giving him time with the 1's while he is still learning the playbook and perfecting everything that Norvell is filling him with. If Gump can have "a package" with the offense, then Harry can handle the entire playbook, now.
