I've always used a plus/minus system to track how we're doing in conference play (for hoops). The system works like this: you are neutral for home wins and road losses, but get plus one for a road win and minus one for a home loss. Currently, we sit at +2, with three road wins and one home loss.
At the end of the season, you need to be +2 or better to have a chance at a first round bye in the P12 Tournament. This weekend will have a huge impact on whether we'll end up playing on Wednesday or resting our legs until Thursday. In short, we have to at least get a split against the LA schools. That would keep us at +1 and in decent shape. Losing both gets us back to even with an extra road game at Arizona looming in the back half of the season.
A sweep makes a first round bye very realistic.
We've looked good and been a fun team so far this season. This week will let us know how high our hopes should get, IMO.
