Here is what I have been able to gather so far on this:
I'll start first with the bottom line and that it certainly appears right now that Herb Sendek's job is on shaky ground at best and it shouldn't come as a surprise if he and ASU parted ways. I know Sendek is supposed to meet with Anderson tomorrow to discuss his future and a decision could very well be reached on this topic tomorrow.
Obviously what Ray Anderson said in his interview to 98.7 FM was anything but a vote of confidence in Sendek, and was a clear indication that Anderson was willing to explore other options at the very least. What Anderson said was far from lip service since a couple of weeks ago he relieved Dawn Rogers, a senior athletic administrator, from her duties as overseeing the Men's basketball program (she was re-assigned to a different role in the department) - an action that obviously speaks volumes here.
I do know of two current head coaches that have expressed interest in ASU's job and have reached out to Ray Anderson and the ASU athletic department about their candidacy. As we always said, the unattractive financial aspect of buying out Sendek can be negated if Anderson though that he could find a suitable replacement.
Those two coaches names were told to me in confidence and I cannot share them at this point, but are names that I believe could create excitement on some level for the future of ASU basketball.
