The Sun Devils have returned to Tempe and got after it Monday morning after an off day Sunday. On the injury front, Manny Wilkins was among the first at practice and looked fine throwing the ball and participated fully in drills after Hod reported a right arm injury. Jalen Harvey wasn't present today after his collarbone injury during the scrimmage so it looks like that might be more serious.
I should also mention still no sign of Deonte Reynolds today.
The majority of the morning was drill work and some install. Graham seemed to be focused specifically on Antonio Longino during the install period and talked with him a lot about his form off the line. Kalen Ballage also worked with the offense today.
In green jerseys: Grant Martinez, Dillon Faamatau, Cam Smith, Coltin Gerhart, Dan Vear, Fred Gammage. Compared with this time last week, that's a big step forward with lots of nagging injuries seemingly healed.
One of the most interesting drills I watched this morning was Mike Norvell working with the QBs on fumbles. He threw it out maybe 10 yards on the ground and they would go fall on the ball and cradle it. Then he also simulated errant snaps by throwing balls at their knees or above their heads which they would have to catch.
There was also a special teams period where the team worked on kickoffs. Graham continues to stand behind his word that he will put the best players on special teams. Kody Kohl, Demario Richard, Gump Hayes, Devin Lucien, Antonio Longino, Ellis Jefferson and Kweishi Brown were all out there on the first team kickoff coverage.
11 on 11:
First-team offense: Mike Bercovici (QB), Demario Richard (RB), Gump Hayes (RB) D.J. Foster (WR), Devin Lucien (WR), Gary Chambers (WR), Evan Goodman (LT), Christian Westerman (LG), Nick Kelly (C), Vi Teofilo (RG), and Billy McGehee (RT).
First-team defense: Demetrius Cherry (DE), Ami Latu (nose), JoJo Wicker (DT), D.J. Calhoun (WILL), Antonio Longino (Devil), Salamo Fiso (SAM), Laiu Moeakiola (SPUR), Lloyd Carrington (CB), Kweishi Brown (CB), Jordan Simone (S), and Armand Perry (S).
Second-team offense: Brady White (QB), Kalen Ballage (RB), Ellis Jefferson (WR), Kody Kohl (WR), Eric Lauderdale (WR), Raymond Epps (TE), Sam Jones (LT), Steve Miller (LG), Tyler McClure (C), Quinn Bailey (RG), and Zach Robertson (RT).
Second-team defense: Edmond Boateng (DE), Tashon Smallwood (N), Renell Wren (DE), Khaylan Thomas (Devil), Carlos Mendoza (WILL), Christian Sam (SAM), Marcus Ball (SPUR), Solomon Means (CB), Ronald Lewis (CB), James Johnson (S), and Chad Adams (S).
Media was only able to watch one series of 1st and 2nd teams respectively but both sessions seemed focused on the running game. The only group that really seemed to "win" their segment was the 1st team offense on the ground. Brady White seemed to get a little flustered with the pace of the offense on 2nd team, I truly still don't think that 2nd QB spot is settled yet.
A Chicago Bears scout also watched practice. Any questions please let me know and I'll do my best to answer what I can.
