The Daily Star this morning outlined the coaching packages for AU, ASU, Oregon and UCLA...

UCLA...Chip Kelly signed on at UCLA for five years for $23.3M...will make $300,000 in base pay a year, with between $3M and $4.3M in what is termed an "annual talent fee" through 2022...

I have no idea what a "talent fee" is and how it is paid out so if anyone knows, please advise...

He gets bonuses for winning at least six games a year, up to $200K, if he wins a national title...

Also gets a bonus if he graduates 70% of his players and has an APR score of more than 930...

His "notable perk" is getting the use of a Rose Bowl suite for home games...

The Bruins will pay him $9M if he is fired in his first 4 years on the job...

Kelly must pay the Bruins the same amount if he leaves for any reason during that time...

Oregon
...Mario Cristobal signed on with Ducks for five years for $12.5M...

He'll make $2.5M a year through his contract length...

He will get a bonus for being named PAC COY and for winning a national championship...

His "notable perks" include a country club membership and free travel for his family to away football games and he gets two company cars along with 12 free football tickets to all home games...

Oregon will pay him half his due contract amount if he is fired and Cristobal will have to pay the Ducks millions if he decides to leave...

Arizona...Kevin Sumlin signed on for five years at $14.5M so he will make $2M his first two years before it jumps to $3.5M a year in 2020...

He'll receive bonuses for making a bowl game, finishing the season ranked in the Top 25 and an extra million for winning a national championship...

He maxes out at $1.75M a year in bonuses...

His "notable perk" is getting 45 hours of free private-jet time for recruiting purposes along with a country club membership, car, eight season football tickers, and four basketball season tickets...

He cannot take another PAC job for one year...

He will be paid $10M if he is fired w/o cause in his first two years at AU and he has to pay AU $10M if he leaves the school during his first two years...

ASU...Herm Edwards signed on for five years at $12.5M or a little less than what Kevin Sumlin will be paid over that time span...

He'll make $2M this year with $250K raises coming in each succeeding year...

He'll receive bonuses for winning the PAC South title, more if he wins the PAC title game, and at least a million if he wins a national championship...

He'll also get a bonus for finishing in the Top 25, winning 12 games a season and $300K if his team has a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher...

I don't see anything related to having a private jet at his disposal for recruiting like Sumlin has, so don't know if that means he has to fly "coach" while recruiting...

But, he does get free golf at the ASU golf course and will be reimbursed for his fees if he joins a private country club...

Additionally, he has to pay ASU $75K if he is fired for breaking NCAA rules...

ASU will pay him the remaining amount owed on his contract if they fire him without cause and he has to pay them $1M if he leaves and he cannot coach at another PAC school until at least 2023...

So, there you have it...Chip Kelly is highest paid which comes as no surprise and Kevin Sumlin is getting paid more than Herm Edwards and would appear to have better perks, as well, especially as they relate to recruiting...

However, I am not concerned because our AD has that new leadership model in place along with a Scouting Dept that will have to fly "coach," I guess, when recruiting...

Maybe our coaches will get to fly "premium economy"...I don't really know...;)

I'm just having some fun with the whole deal...:D

Looking forward to your feedback...Go Herm and Go Devils!!!
