TEMPE, Ariz. – Sun Devil Football offensive linemen Nick Kelly and Christian Westerman have been named to the Outland Trophy Preseason Watch List, the Football Writers Association of America announced Friday.

The Outland Trophy is presented to the nation’s most outstanding interior lineman.

Arizona State is one of 11 schools, and joins Stanford as the only two from the Pac-12, with two offensive linemen on the list. Kelly and Westerman are two of 13 representatives from the Pac-12.

Kelly, a senior from Orangevale, Calif., and Westerman, a redshirt senior from Chandler, Ariz., both earned All-Pac-12 honors in 2014. The duo played a pivotal role in the Sun Devils’ offense recording a 91-percent conversion rate on red zone trips, the 12th-best mark in the nation, and scoring 37 points per game, which ranked 16th in nation.

Kelly was also named to the preseason watch list for the Rimington Trophy, given to the nation’s top center.

This is the third consecutive season a Sun Devil has been named to the Outland Trophy Watch List after offensive tackle Jamil Douglas and defensive tackle Will Sutton made the list in 2014 and 2013, respectively.
