The Star this morning is running an article entitled "Teams Cannibalize Each Other Early On" which I would amend to "The PAC Cannibalizes Each Other All Season Long"...
As Coach Mike MacIntyre of Colorado aptly points out..."the PAC 12 is extremely tough and when you get into the grind, it's a phenomenal league...every week, anybody can beat anybody else"...
Does anyone here disagree with that observation and/or conclusion..??
We have two groupings entering PAC play this week, although USC and Stanford played last weekend, with the Cardinal winning, as we all know...
Group One...the unbeaten 3-0 teams so far that includes...
AU...high scoring and ranked but haven't really played any real quality teams yet but do get Scooby back...
UCLA...ranked and looking pretty good but true FR QB Josh Rosen came back down to earth last weekend against a good BYU team, plus they lost Myles Jack for season in that game...
Cal...may have best QB in country in Jared Goff and they just beat Texas in Austin so are flying high but tangle with Washington this weekend in Seattle...
Utah...have beaten Harbaugh's Michigan and state rival Utah St at home and beat up Fresno St last weekend on the road, but will they really be a title contender at the end of the season..??
Group Two...the rest of the PAC that is 2-1 so far in the season...
USC...tons of talent (a lot of which is young) didn't get it done against Stanford and a loss to ASU this weekend would not bode well for the Trojans, as that would be two PAC losses already...
ASU...will be getting some players back but still lacking along the OL and at TE and secondary is not deep, plus will Berco run the way he is supposed to in the PAC...
Oregon...host #18 Utah this weekend but then won't face another ranked opponent until maybe the end of October or November at the earliest, when they play ASU, Cal, Stanford and USC on consecutive weeks...
Stanford...many were ready to write off Cardinal after loss to Northwestern but then they beat USC last weekend in LA, which reminded everyone that they still have plenty of talent on team...
Wash...look to be better than originally thought but we'll see this weekend when they host the Cal Bears...
Colorado...Buffs look better but still have a long ways to go...
Wazzu...can't take Cougs lightly or they will bite you but not title contenders, either...
Oregon St...Beavers not going anywhere...too bad we miss them this season...
I guess the last cannibal left sitting at the dinner table will have devoured most of the PAC to get into that seat...who will it be..??
Stay tuned...
Championships or Bust...Go Devils!!!
