James Harden is officially with Adidas, and as of October 1st, he's see a $15.38 million annually from Adidas until the fall of 2028. He joins Andrew Wiggins, John Wall, Dwight Howard, Damian Lillard, and Derrick Rose as Adidas most high profile NBA athletes.
As far as the richest shoe contracts out there, Harden is behind LeBron James and Kevin Durant in annual compensation, and is tied for third (give or take a few hundred thousand) in the Kobe Bryant-range.
As far as the endorsement deals that pay more than $10 million annually, Durant played one year at Texas, while James and Bryant came straight out of high school. Rose's connection to college has been effectively cut off by the NCAA.
Damian Lillard went back to Weber State to get his degree, and even delivered the commencement speech this spring. Lillard keeping ties to his Big Sky school of origin should help elevate the program and the school so long as he stays in the spotlight.
Dwyane Wade has kept ties with Marquette, often donates to charitable causes in Milwaukee, and even built his son a Golden Eagles basketball court to play on.
Could Harden's increased profile from Adidas making him the face of their brand have a positive impact on Arizona State? When people see James Harden, were his two years enough for people to make the Arizona State association with more frequency than people connect Durant to Texas?
In my opinion, it certainly can't hurt- but I put the question to you... How can it help?
