Drills
The offensive line spent time today working on double teams and working to the second level. So far in camp, offensive line coach Mike Cavanaugh has emphasized double team drills, running multiple drills every practice. Additionally, he also had the line work on pass protection with and without the tight ends.

The offensive skill positional players once again worked on ball security drills, repeating the drills during Monday’s practice. Afterward, ASU transitioned to its special teams period. The quarterbacks went with some of the linemen on snapping. Below are the pairings.

Bourguet and Ben Bray
Tyson and Ramos
Daylin McLemore and Martinez
Bennett Meredith and Austin Barry
Finn Collins and Venezuela

Additionally, the offense and defense came together for 1-on-1 drills. Jones took the strong majority of snaps at quarterback during the 1-on-1s. He had a nice ball to redshirt sophomore wide receiver Elijhah Badger, who caught the ball and got his toes down before falling out of bounds. Jones also used his tight ends, getting redshirt sophomore tight end Jalin Conyers and Swinson involved.

The offensive line and defensive line also participated in their own form of 1-on-1s. The defense dominated the offensive line, winning 22 of the 34 1-on-1s and winning eight consecutive matchups.

After 1-on-1s, the team rejoined for 11-on-11s. Tyson threw three touchdowns and Jones found the endzone six times. Jones had the better day, completing 10 of his 12 passes. All quarterbacks avoided throwing a single interception, marking the first time in fall camp that all quarterbacks didn’t turn the ball over. Jones's first touchdown was caught by senior wide receiver Giovanni Sanders, who caught the ball in the air near the goal post. After an initial delay from the referee, it was ruled Sanders managed to get his foot in bounds, which sent the offensive into a frenzy.

From there, the Sun Devils scored eight more times, getting a lot of different receivers reps. Jones found Conyers at the five-yard line with a few defenders in the area. Conyers made a few moves and found his way into the endzone. Redshirt junior wide receiver Shawn Charles also pulled in a touchdown, thanks to an accurate pass from Jones and a strong block by freshman wide receiver Javen Jacobs, which allowed Johnson to cross the pylon. Cam Johnson and Sanders both had two touchdowns and Andre Johnson, Chad Johnson Jr., Messiah Swinson, and Charles Hall also scored touchdowns. It’s safe to say that Wednesday’s practice was the best practice Jones has had all fall camp.
