I had a brief chat on the phone with 2016 RB Melquise Stovall of Paraclete High School in Lancaster, Calif. (http://sports.yahoo.com/footballrecruiting/football/recruiting/player-Melquise-Stovall-156083). He was in Tempe this week for a visit and shared some thoughts on his time at ASU.
Devils Digest: What were your overall impressions of the visit?
Melquise Stovall: "It was a nice campus and I got a chance to meet with some of the coaches."
Devils Digest: What really stood out the most and impressed you?
Stovall: "The campus, really. It was a huge campus."
Devils Digest: Is a bigger campus something you're looking for?
Stovall: "It doesn't really matter, I just liked the way the campus was set up and stuff like that."
Devils Digest: What are your thoughts on the ASU offense?
Stovall: "Unfortunately, I didn't go to the spring game, but I like the way they play true freshman. They spread their backs around and I like that because I'm not a running back, I'm an athlete."
Devils Digest: When you talked to coaches did they say they'd utilize you out of the backfield?
Stovall: "Yeah, they said they'd move around and stuff like that."
Devils Digest: Did you get a chance to talk to any ASU players and what did they tell you about the team?
Stovall: "I know one of the players on the team already, Demario Richard, but that's about it. From what I know, he likes the offense, so that's good."
Devils Digest: What are your biggest strengths and weaknesses as a player?
Stovall "I have good hands out of the backfield. I'm not a running back, I'm an athlete, so I want to be used like that. I want to improve on my route running."
Devils Digest: How many other schools have given offers so far?
Stovall: "Well, I have 13 offers. Mostly Pac-12 and some Mountain West."
Devils Digest: Do you have a timetable for when you'd like to commit?
Stovall: "I've been telling everyone that I should make a decision around June."
Devils Digest: When you do make a decision, what kind of factors are you looking for in a school?
Stovall: "Just how I click with coaches and how I'll be used. I'm an athlete and I want to be used outside the backfield, so really just that. Also just facilities being up to the standard that all athletes would want."
