It's been a productive last four to five weeks from a recruiting perspective. We're about half way to our goal with much left to accomplish. Just looking at our roster and our commitments to date, I'd say our remaining needs are:
DL--I think we need about four DLs. We should have Lea, Davidson, Forman, Slade, Bates and Lole returning plus Matus and Johnson. Maybe we could get by with one less and we may have to depending on our prospects. Perhaps we look at the JC possibilities if we run out of HS prospects. Nua needs to be successful.
OL--We have three commits and probably want five. For me, the wildcard is whether Miller and/or Cabral would think about the NFL. I would not have guessed a year ago that Jones would declare--so I'm not going to rule out that possibility. Maybe we look at JC prospects later in the cycle.
CB--our numbers suggest we need two or three CBs. That's assuming that Lucas will return. He doesn't have an NFL body but he does have coverage skills.
LB--we probably need/want a couple of LBs. It depends a little on who plays where and whether Ralston is the real deal. But I'd lean towards grabbing two if available.
With whatever is left over, I'd probably just offer the best available player--and maybe focus on the defensive side. But it wouldn't bother me if we signed another RB. Our numbers suggest we have enough but I don't know about the health/skills of Flowers.
