I was wrapping up some research for the annual spring outlook I write for ASU's official release and came across some pretty interesting info on where a couple current Sun Devils stand in a few school records:

Career Receptions

258 - Derek Hagan (2002-05)
188 - John Jefferson (1974-77)
168 - Chris McGaha (2006-09)
164 - Eric Guliford (1989-92)
163 - D.J. Foster (2012-Present)
157 - Jaelen Strong (2013-14)
156 - Shaun McDonald (2000-02)
156 - John Mistler (1977-80)
143 - Lenzie Jackson (1993-96)
140 - Keith Poole (1993-96)

The few things that stand out about this to me:

1. In the same amount of years, D.J. Foster has exceeded the amount of receptions Shaun McDonald had. Of course, prior to this season, though he played an "all-purpose" role, Foster hasn't been formally positioned as a wide receiver
2. Of the top-10 leaders in receptions, other than Foster and Strong, McDonald is the ONLY other player who didn't/hasn't used all four years.
3. Not that it wasn't obvious before, but what Strong did in two years is nothing short of amazing. Possibly the best WR ever to play at ASU.

Foster could leapfrog Guliford and McGaha in the first game or two of the season. If he gets on a major roll at WR this season, he could approach Hagan's mark, though that would require Foster to creep toward the 100-catch mark on the year...lofty as it is, with a QB like Bercovici that's not something that is completely impossible.

Career All-Purpose Yards

5,654 - Wilford "Whizzer" White (1947-50)
5,617 - J.R Redmond (1996-99)

Foster enters 2015 with 3,965 all-purpose yards and had 1,769 in 2014; a repeat of that would put him in a position to take this record.

Also, with Strong (and now Cameron Smith) gone, it is very plausible that Foster could hit the 1,000-yard receiving mark this year. Not sure how many college players have ever had a 1,000-yard rushing year and a 1,000-yard receiving year in their careers, but it's obviously not very common. Additionally, no player in ASU history has surpassed 2,000 career yards both rushing and receiving; Foster enters 2015 with 2,075 career rushing yards and 1,874 receiving yards. Foster is realistically well on his way to making a claim as one of the best all-purpose players in ASU history and perhaps on a larger scale as well.

Career Field Goals Made

81 - Luis Zendejas (1981-84)
68 - Thomas Weber (2007-10)
51 - Jesse Ainsworth (2003-06)
49 - Mike Barth (1999-02)
47 - Zane Gonzalez (2013-Present)
39 - Robert Nycz (1995-97)
39 - Mike Richey (1989-92)
36 - Kent Bostrom (1985-87)
35 - Jon Baker (1993-94)
34 - Dan Kush (1973-76)

Career Points by Kicking

380 - Luis Zendejas (1981-84)
340 - Thomas Weber (2007-10)
313 - Jesse Ainsworth (2003-06)
277 - Mike Barth (1999-02)
256 - Zane Gonzalez (2013-Present)
243 - Robert Nycz (1995-97)
201 - Mike Richey (1989-92)
174 - Kent Bostrom (1985-87)
155 - Don Ekstrand (1970-71)
154 - Jon Baker (1993-94)

Basically, at the midway point of his college career, Gonzalez is trending toward owning both these statistics. I believe Zendejas was the NCAA career scoring leader among kickers when he finished at ASU, so surpassing that total would be something.
