Obviously ASU football recruiting will be heavily reliant on transfers for the remainder of the class of 2022 and for the class of 2023
The class of 2024 will be taking a lotta 7v7/skills camps/shoulder rubbing trips this spring and having seeds planted in their minds........and obviously ASU will be behind the 8 ball on those too..................but when a "4 star" AZ prep TE recruit in the class of 2023 can look at a 0-12* u4 and say that he sees them "building greatness", anything is possible 22 months from now
So transfer recruiting is what ASU will rely in for at least the rest of the 2022/2023 cycles
And for a Tier 2, it is very possible for that to be the best route anyway (obviously there is a limit depending upon years of eligibility remaining...,,,,,,,,and there is still a whole lotta shakin out to go on in determining winners and losers in the transfer market and it still comes down to talent evaluation). How many 4 star recruits in the class of 2021 & 2022 will be transferring out of their initial landing spot by December...............or after Spring Ball? etc etc etc
Under Todd Graham, ASU was 2nd in the entire FBS with transfers signed in the classes of 2012-2017
Nearly all of them were Jucos (with an associates degree making them all immediately eligible as all transfers are now for their 1st transfer prior to graduating) which adds another layer of difficulty in talent evaluation. However he was very successful with it.
He took a good cupboard full of talent (the 2012 defense was 2nd in the Pac and 27th in FBS and filled holes with transfers............Chris Young and a lil bitta Stephon Martin in 2012............in 2013 is was Young/Martin/Damarious Randall/Lloyd Carrington...............in 2014 it was Randall/Carrington/Jordan Simone/Antonio Longino/Marcus Hardison/Kweishi Brown/Edmond Boateng/Demetrious Cherry...................things fell apart in season 4 for many many many different reasons and it does coincide with the majority of the 2012 cupboard departing (when in 2015 they had Simone/Longino/Carrington/Hardison/Boateng/Brown/Cherry/Solomon Means)
On offense in 2012 it was Marion Grice.............in 2013 it was Grice/Jaelen Strong/Nick Kelly................in 2014 it was Strong/Kelly/William McGehee/Christian Westerman.........in 2015 it was Westerman/Kelly/Tim White/Devin Lucien

how many true frosh hit the portal after their 1st Fall at their initial landing spot at bluebloods? at Tier 2's?
how many true frosh hit the portal after their 1st Fall and subsequent Spring Ball at their initial landing spot at bluebllods? at Tier 2's?
how many redshirt frosh hit the portal after their 2nd Fall at bluebloods? at Tier 2's? at Tier 3's? etc
how many redshirt sophs hit the portal during/after their 3rd Fall?
how many redshirt juniors ........
Similar interesting questions/answers/numbers to be calculated over the next coupla years are regarding NIL............so that transfers like Jackson He can determine how valuable they are with no eligibility left, prior to making such an important decision......and for all other extremely high profile.........and not so high profile potential transfers
