I shared this article in the ASU Football FB Group and wanted to share it here for those who don't use FB or Social Media.
As I expected, sadly, the first few FB comments suggested people didn't really read the article they just chose to complain. And of course they complained about things that had nothing to do with the article.
You can interpret the data in many ways. However overall I agree with the main point that you can eliminate the early season cupcakes, early season thursday night games, and focus on the Conference games and games against Power 5 Teams. And that data still suggests that the casual ASU fan is not there. To me it feels like the author is once again proving something we've seen over the past 2 decades with ASU Football. It doesn't matter what the implications are for the season. If ASU lost the week before, the casual fans stay home the following week.
In a matter of hours Spring Practice will be over and the College Football offseason will begin. So I felt this falls perfectly into the "Subjects we discuss ad nauseum in the summer" pile.
