Mornin Mates...
It has been almost a month since my wife and her mom were on their way back to Tucson from our place in Greer to catch a flight to Pasadena to celebrate her aunt's 90th birthday...
However, in Globe, our lives were changed forever when they were involved in a horrific accident that took the life of her mom and the other driver involved in the collision...my wife was transported to Scottsdale Osborn Hospital as it is a Level One Trauma Center...
She had massive injuries and was losing blood as quickly as they could replace it...however, she survived thanks to the heroic medical measures taken by the air evac crew and emergency room personnel...
I have lost track of how many surgeries she has had and other procedures needed to help her as she tries to recover...she is still critical but stable and seems to be recovering although there was brain injury that nobody, at this point, can predict how it will turn out in the future...
My son took me down to Scottsdale from the mountains after it happened and that was longest 5 hours of my life...they talk about The Golden Hour in trauma, for if you can get critically injured people to a trauma center during the first 60 minutes or so, their chances of survival increase a lot and that is certainly the difference between my wife still being alive today or not making it...
If you saw pictures of the car my wife was driving you would guess that no one would have survived the crash, so it is truly a miracle that she is still alive...
She is living in a twilight zone right now and we'll just have to see what happens over the coming months before we know much of anything regarding her mental status...
This site is an oasis for me just as Sun Devil football has been for almost 50 years now...I'm living with my sister and her husband in Tempe these days, while I visit my wife each day, but I rather doubt that I will make any games this year but we'll see...
The video showing the stadium progress was uplifting and the new and improved SDS will be a great venue for Sun Devil games...
I know our Devils aren't really picked to do much this year but we have a better team and coaching staff, on paper at least, than we did in Graham's first year and we won 8 games that year, as we all know, so I haven't lost faith and think we will win at least 8-9-10 games, despite what the pundits say, based largely on the uncertainly associated with many positions, etc...
However, Talent Is Destiny and we do have plenty of talent on the team and coaching staff so I say "nuts" to all the skeptics out there...
We'll, I'm off to the hospital shortly but wanted to check in and let you all know what is going on...
G'day Mates and remember to always tell the one's you love that you love them as you never know what the next minute might bring...I had dinner with my wife and her mother at the Molly Butler the night before they left for Tucson and we told each other how much we loved each other, that morning, as they were leaving for Tucson...
Never take anything for granted...Go Devils!!!
