Mornin Mates...
Today's Topic = Eyes Don't Lie
If I was talking about the NFL, my eyes are telling me that their product is being diminished even more significantly these days, than all the commercialization has done to it during the past couple of decades...
We are all for safety but the NFL is taking the enjoyment out of watching a inherently physical game, turning it into a snooze-fest, as they try to protect everyone from the dangers associated with the sport...
My eyes are also telling me that ASU will be no joke for opponents this coming season, as at least a dozen newcomers, who are better than what we already have, are going to be playing key roles this season, according to Herm...
At QB, it looks like JC product K Walding may win the back-up job from DSC and, therefore, be in a position to get some playing time this year...
In the backfield, we already know I Floyd is going to get a lot of playing time due to his abilities and that B Aiyuk will do the same for the receiving corps and that both will help out on special teams, too...
Along the OL, we know transfer C Tucker will start at LT and another transfer R Hemsley will be a key back-up along the line as well...
Then we have the three true FR that will get playing time at the three LB positions...they include M Robertson, D Butler and S Lambert and all three may be good enough to become starters...
Adding to the defense, it looks like T Adams, D Harrison, J Lole and A Crosswell will also be in the mix for playing time, as well...
That's a dozen right there and there are some others that may also play as newcomers that include OL J Bell, WR G Porter, WR/TE J Caldwell, OL S Lovell, and RB P Lucas and maybe some of the true FR running backs...
Am I missing anyone..??
So my eyes are telling me that our football fortunes this year may well be in the hands of these newcomers, as much as our returning starters...
This has me excited about the upcoming season as well as the future...
However, I wish our placekicker was much more consistent than he is showing these days and I don't know what is going on with our punter, either...
It's now less than two full weeks to our first game against UTSA and I look forward to seeing a bunch of newcomers play in that game...
If I was able to attend practice, my eyes would be telling me, for sure, if my 7-8-9 win prediction would be realistic or not...
In the meantime, the twinkle in Herm's eyes is telling me that many of the newcomers are the "real deal" and will help us win enough games to go bowling this year...
Meanwhile. down here in So Arizona, Sumlin is using the word "fabulous" to describe how the Cats are looking these days...
What are your eyes telling you about our Sun Devils..??
G'day Mates and Go Devils!!!
