Mornin Mates...
Today's Topic = ASU 4 AU 0
The Sun Devils didn't have the most drafted out of the PAC but they did much better than the Cats who got shut out once again...
The PAC had 39 players drafted, which trailed the SEC with 54 and the ACC with 47, but the PAC led the country with nine first round picks, that included one Sun Devil as we all know...
The only PAC teams shut out in the draft were AU, Cal and Colorado...you understand the Cal and Colorado situation but have a hard time figuring out the Cats situation since they won the PAC South this past season...
Does this mean that Rich Rod's "Our Kind of Guys" mantra means more than Dust's "Talent Is Destiny" mantra..??
Does that mean that RR is the best coach in the PAC South and/or has the best "system" in the South..??
Heck, Washington had three first round draft picks and it didn't bring them the North PAC Championship, so what gives..??
Both Stanford and USC led the league in players chosen but neither won their respective PAC divisions so why is that..??
Poor Brett Hundley had to weight until the 5th round to be selected, so does that mean he isn't that good of a QB, despite his record at UCLA..??
And, then we have Taylor Kelly who had the best winning mark of any ASU QB since Danny White but he wasn't drafted...
Also, well regarded Ifo Ekpre-Olomu of Oregon wasn't picked until the 7th round and was the 241st player selected...
You have to wonder why Washington with all that talent under Sark didn't really do much better up in Seattle...
The Trojans have a ton of talent returning this year and it will be very interesting to see how they do under Sark...
ASU also has a lot of talent returning and much of it will be drafted in the coming years, if I don't miss my guess...
So, what conclusions can you draw from the draft..??
Did Rich Rod out perform his PAC peers in the South since the Cats didn't have anyone drafted but won the South..??
Is Talent Destiny or Not based on the draft results..??
Who has coached up the most in the PAC and who has coached down the most given the talent quotients on each team..??
There are lots of questions and I'm wondering who has the answers as we go into the summer doldrums...
You have to believe that ASU having four players drafted can only help in recruiting, as that is what elite recruits are looking for and it would certainly apply to JC recruits, since 3 of the 4 were JC players recruited by Graham and his staff...
And does a lack of draftees at AU hurt the Cats recruiting any..??
Lots and lots of questions...
I await your feedback...
G'day Mates...Championships or Bust...Go Devils!!!
