Mornin Mates...

Today's Topic = Countdown to Answers

The countdown to the Sun Devil season opener against NAU is now only four days away and, as a result, maybe we can begin to answer some important questions about our program...

Such as...will a revamped roster and coaching staff be up to the task of putting together another winning season for our Sun Devils..??

We play the Jacks this coming Thursday night in SDS and ASU figures to be a heavy favorite to win this game...

But, how enthused are you about this upcoming game and season given all of the recent turmoil in the program under Herm..??

What sort of a winning score would indicate that the Devils may well be on their way to a pretty good season in your opinion..??

Or, what kind of score would make you less enthusiastic about this season moving forward..??

This year we are predicted to finish 10th in the PAC and last year the Cats were picked last in the PAC and lost to the Lumberjacks 19-21...

I don't think we are going to lose to the Jacks the way the Cats did but if we won 21-19 would that be a good omen for the rest of the season..??

I think we should win by at least about 3 TDs, at bare minimum, but am I being too unrealistic given that this is our first game and we have a new QB and a bunch of new players in key roles on the team..??

Here's how our friend down here - Greg Hansen - sees things in the PAC, which coincides pretty much with the rest of the PAC media, entering the season...

1) Utah at 8-1
- because Whittingham's Utes are the league's toughest out and I would add the consensus pick to win the PAC championship this season...

2) USC at 7-2 - because given the money, resources and transfer portal standouts for new coach - Lincoln Riley - the Trojans better finish 7-2, at a minimum...

3) Stanford at 6-3 - because it's time for David Shaw's club to return to relevance and I would add that he has a QB with which to do it, it would appear...

4) Oregon at 6-3 - because the Duck's name has lost some sting...

5) Cal at 5-4 - because Justin Wilcox turned down the Oregon job as he thinks he can win at Cal...

6) UCLA at 5-4 - because Chip Kelly only gets the minimum out of talent...

7) Oregon St at 5-4 - because the Beavers get the most out of their talent...

8) Arizona at 4-5 - because the Cats are the most improved team in the league...

9) Washington at 3-6 - because the Huskies will find out what they are missing since Chris Petersen left...

10) Wazzu at 3-6 - because now the Cougars know how good Mike Leach really was...

11) ASU at 2-7 - because...oh, what might have been for the Sun Devils (without all the BS engendered by Herm and his staff leading up to this season)...

12) Colorado at 0-9 - because Ralphie is the Buff's top talent...

Will our Sun Devils really be that dreadful or will using "our kind of guys" that don't think of "me first" rather than the "team first" be able to shine enough to put together another winning season..??

Will Herm's philosophy of "playing not to lose" best put us in a position to win more games than we lose..??

Will we remain at Tier Two football program or slip even further into irrelevance if we lose more games than we win..??

I have to admit that my enthusiasm for the season is at an all time low but I'm hoping that it gets resurrected somewhat if we have a winning season and look good while doing it...

On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the highest how would you rate your enthusiasm level at this time..??

In any event, another Sun Devil season starts in just a few days and anything is possible, right..??

And, at the very least, a lot of questions will be answered related to the status of our football program under Herm in his fifth year at ASU...

G'day Mates and Go Devils!!!
