Today's Topic = Looking Forward
I'm up in the mountains having watched my granddaughter graduate from HS, which she did on Friday night at Blue Ridge HS, along with about 150 other seniors in her class...
My hats are off to the administrators who left the ceremony up to the kids because it is all about them and not about the school or educational themes that put everyone to sleep...
We were out of there by 9 pm for which I was very thankful...
My class in NJ was 600 strong and the ceremony went on and on for what seemed like an eternity...
When asked about where I would be attending school afterwards, I told them I was headed out west, while most of my classmates were going to eastern schools that people recognized, so many were puzzled, since they weren't sure that Arizona was even a state as it may have been only a US territory, where they were still having shootouts and fighting with the Indians, weren't they..??
All I know is that time flies as it seems that I finished HS just a few short weeks ago...
Changing subjects...that was a tough loss to Fullerton last night as the Devils couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with those bats of theirs and another great pitching performance went down the drain...I don't know how you rebound from that sort of loss but we'll see what we're made of today for sure...
On another note, there are White Mtn Sun Devil Steak Fry and Golf Tournament signs everywhere, it seems, around the Pinetop-Lakeside area, promoting that great event that will be in another couple of weeks...
So, let's talk a little ASU football before I eat my breakfast and I need your feedback regarding the Unit Rankings Athlon gives to us compared to our PAC opponents...
QB...USC is ranked first and we are ranked only 5th...am I right in concluding that Berco could end up being the best QB in the conference..??
RB...Oregon is ranked first while we are ranked 6th...I think our RBs will be right up there with the best in the PAC and am I just whistling Dixie or what..??
WR/TE...USC is ranked first while we are ranked 10th...this does appear to be our weakest area which I think we all agree on, right..??
OL...USC is ranked first while we are ranked 5th...am I right in concluding that this will be our best OL since Graham has been here and maybe our best line since the Snyder days..??
DL...UCLA is ranked first while we are ranked 5th...sorry but not buying into this unit being only about middle of the PAC...right or wrong, in your opinion..??
LB...UCLA is first while we are 3rd...no quibble here as it should be a strength, right..??
DB...USC is first while we are 3rd...see above...right..??
Looking at these rankings is there any way we can win the PAC..??
Should we just concede the South to either USC and/or UCLA since the Trojans are rated first in four unit rankings and the Bruins are ranked first in two and second in two other..??
Is another 10 win season even possible with this group of ASU talent that certainly isn't rated that highly going into the season..??
Despite these unit rankings, I remain very optimistic, since I think this will be the best team, from top to bottom, that Graham has fielded at ASU and they've already had back to back 10 win seasons...
Do you think I'm right about that..??
The ace up our sleeve is Graham and his staff, I believe, because they are proven "elevators" so I'm not concerned at all, as we have the talent and experience to beat every team we face this coming season...
Is that just my kool-aid speaking or reality in your opinion..??
