It looks like "fairness" has been kicked in the butt by "meritocracy" in the new 12 team playoff format...
Clearly, Indiana, SMU and Clemson weren't up to the task at hand when it came to playing the likes of Notre Dame, Penn St and Texas and even Tenn got demolished by Ohio St...
And, Boise St is a 9.5 underdog against Penn St in the upcoming Fiesta Bowl, while ASU is a 13.5 underdog against Texas in the upcoming Peach Bowl...
Maybe, it would have been better to have had Boise St and ASU hosting either Indiana, Clemson or SMU in first round games, while the big boys got a first round bye in the playoffs...
I could get into a first round game in SDS, pitting our Sun Devils against another team with a magical season like the Indiana Hoosiers (that would really decide who earned a national coach of the year award)...
It was 80 degrees in Tempe yesterday and I'm sure Indiana would've rather have played in Tempe than in freezing South Bend against the Fighting Irish over this past weekend...
Now we have toss-up games in both the Rose Bowl, pitting B1G foes Oregon and Ohio St, and in the Sugar Bowl, pitting independent Notre Dame against SEC Georgia...
Our Sun Devils are well rested but facing a Mission Impossible task against a Longhorns team that appears to be a shoe-in to advance to the Semi-Finals, where they will face the winner of the Rose Bowl contest...
Or, does Dilly and his Sun Devil team have a David sling-shot loaded with a Maroon and Gold stone that could possibly do in the Eyes of Texas Goliath in the Peach Bowl..??
That's a pretty tall order but I remember when Boise St upset the mighty Oklahoma Sooners in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl, 43-42, when the Broncos came up with one amazing miraculous play after another to beat the Sooners...
