Today's Topic = Is it football season yet ?
Nothing new to report here...
Men's BB loses another game as does the ladies Sun Devil BB team...
The baseball team has lost two games, after leading both, which seems to be a dreadful trend with our pitching...
No lead ever appears safe with our pitching staff...EVER...
Hockey is hanging in there and our Sun Devil swimming and diving teams just won a Big-12 championship, so there is that...
In other news, Greg Hansen is concerned that the NCAA tournament may shy away from ever sending the Cats to Salt Lake City again, due to the anti-Mormon chant that occurred in their recent game against BYU...
That happened because, according to Greg, Tony Padilla missed a call in the final seconds of their game with BYU that led to a defeat and the poor sportsmanship that ensued at McKale...
He points out that Padilla is considered one of the best referees in the conference, since he has officiated three Final Four games and Kenpom.com rates him as the seventh best official in the land...
He's already officiated 86 games this season that put him fourth highest in college BB this season...
And, Hansen also points out that the official that called a technical foul on Lute Olson in 1992, in a home game against UCLA, never officiated another game involving the Cats...
Because Lute had that kind of juice that allowed for the "blackballing" of that official, when it came to the Cats, after that call that Lute said was "the most ridiculous call I've ever seen in my 35 years of coaching"...
However, IMHO, Bobby is the Rodney Dangerfield of conference coaches as he gets no respect from Big-12 BB officials, just like what also happened in the PAC...
Of course, that's part of the difference between an elite program and a program that loses regularly like our Sun Devils in basketball...
Hopefully, some relief will be in sight soon as the Devils will close out their dreadful season in the next two games against the Cats and Texas Tech and, subsequently, we will start looking for another coach...
Who knows, we may also manage to beat Minnesota in baseball later today if our pitching staff holds up and our hitters do a better job of hitting, etc...
