I don't sense that Aggie Land is sweating their upcoming game with ASU, even though the Sun Devils are ranked and they are not, because they are playing the Devils in the Houston suburb of College Station, were rebuilding last season after losing Mr Football and Company to the pros and still won 8 games, and they have a new hot shot defensive coordinator from LSU who walks on water according to many and, besides, they're part of the SEC, which everyone knows is the best conference in college football...
According to recruiting rankings since 2011 or five years ago, the Aggies have out recruited the Devils and therefore have more talent, one would think, going into this game than the Devils...here's the rundown on that using Rivals rankings...
2011 - TAMU ranked #27 (2.95 star average) vs ASU ranking of #58 (2.64 star average)
2012 - TAMU #15 (3.42) vs ASU #38 (2.91)
2013 - TAMU #11 (3.45) vs ASU #34 (3.00)
2014 - TAMU #6 (3.71) vs ASU #21 (3.23)
2015 - TAMU #10 (3.4) vs ASU #20 (3.26)
That's quite a disparity, right..??
It would probably lead one to conclude that A&M has more talent and therefore should win this game without too much of a problem, right..??
Anyway, that's one of the things I'm going to be watching this season in each of our games...the talent disparity quotient to see if my Talent Is Destiny conclusion holds up...
I'll also be watching the coaching disparity quotient to see how that plays out and today we get to see what a great coach like Jim Harbaugh can do at Michigan when they face the Utes in SLC...
Harbaugh walks on water while Kyle Whittingham is a grinder, who wins with undervalued players for the most part...the Utes return 8 defensive starters and Michigan will be starting a new QB...
Arizona was not one of the most talented teams in the PAC last year but managed to win the PAC South with a RS FR QB, who was highly rated by the way, and a two star LB who has already won just about every defensive award available to college players...
I still think that Talent Is Destiny takes care of about 60-80% of the win-loss equation when coaching is about equal but I'm always open to any debate as well...
Any thoughts..??
Championships or Bust...Go Devils!!!
