Zero TE receptions (Hodges made 1 LATE but it was said that somehow the whistle was blown prior to the play
Not much (any?) FB play by Hatch. Lotza 2-backs
Our true frosh WRs have a ways to go. In his 1st 6 games as a true frosh USC's Drake London had a grand total of 3 receptions for 62 yards. In the next 7 games he had 36 receptions (5.2 per game) for 505 yds, 5 TDs (hopefully ours catch on earlier and eventually even better)
JD averaged 10.42 carries per game in 2019 and had 11 today as expected
Logan Tyler left a few KOs short of the goal line (after a very high TB percentage at FSU) but it worked to our favor with very nice Special Teams coverage (including WIll Shaffer and Case Hatch)
Hurt not having Darby in most of the game
Freaky loss-almost like a u4 type loss from the past
Trayanum/White are going to make it very tough for Ngata to get reps. Crazy talk-----White will not have to use his eligibility in 2022 and will enter the draft after next year and that is when Ngata (sans injuries) will get his major reps
Henderson had a VERY ROUGH game at RG giving up at least 2 sacks (a 3rd sack by Tuipolotu was more of a coverage sack and not sure it was Henderson blocking him)
Jack Jack's 2nd punt return (unnecessarily over the shoulder on a FC) was nearly as bad as his 1st (the muff/fumble) and yet he stayed on the field for punts
While USC's air raid feasts on very quick throws, there were quite a few plays that Slovis had all day and our DBs did a great job with lotza great coverage until they started dropping like flies with cramps (where was Aashari?. Phillips was missed with more than a handful of missed tackles). Slovis also showed very good escapability and had a 24 yd run)
Lole had another big game with 6 TT, 1.5 sacks 2 big PBUs and a coupla TFLs (great numbers for a LB but definite 1st team All-Pac for a DL)
Merlin had a big game with 10 TT and an INT (AFTER the first play of the game for USC;s O when he tried to BLOCK WR St. Brown to the ground and instead got a forearm shiver that rocked him)
Clark/Pierce/Jones/Lucas/Davis played pretty well despite our D giving up 381 passing yards/only 6.9 ypa (551 overall)
Matus played well
Fields had 17 TTs
I have USC with the best D in the Pac and we moved the ball well on them until we slowed it down
