TEMPE, Ariz. – Quarterback Mike Bercovici and wide receiver D.J. Foster have been selected to the preseason watch list for the Maxwell Award, and cornerback Lloyd Carrington has earned a spot on the Chuck Bednarik Award preseason watch list, the Maxwell Football Club announced Tuesday.

The Maxwell Award has been given to America's College Player of the Year since 1937, while the Bednarik Award has been presented to the College Defensive Player of the Year since 1995.

This marks the third consecutive season ASU has placed multiple student-athletes on the Maxwell Award preseason watch list, including the second consecutive nod for Foster, and its eight selections over the past three years rank among the most in the nation.

ASU is one of 14 schools with multiple members on the Maxwell Award watch list, and Bercovici and Foster are two of 12 representatives from the Pac-12. Carrington is one of 12 representatives from the Pac-12 on the Bednarik Award watch list.

Bercovici, a redshirt senior from Calabasas, Calif., started three games in 2014 and finished the season with 1,445 yards and 12 touchdowns. He set an NCAA record with 998 passing yards through his first two career starts, and led the Sun Devils to wins over USC and Stanford.

Carrington, a redshirt senior from Dallas, earned All-Pac-12 honorable mention recognition in 2014 after he finished sixth on the team in both total tackles and tackles for loss. He was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week for helping the Devils to a win over Notre Dame with an interception return for a touchdown, eight tackles and a sack.

Foster, a senior from Scottsdale, Ariz., is the only active Football Bowl Subdivision student-athlete to account for more than 1,500 career rushing yards and 1,500 career receiving yards. He led the Sun Devils with 1,081 rushing yards and nine touchdowns in 2014, and finished second on the team in receiving with 62 catches, 688 yards and three touchdowns. A two-time All-Pac-12 honoree, he earned second team all-conference recognition in 2014 after he was the only player in the nation with more than 1,000 rushing yards and more than 600 receiving yards.
