Todd Graham's post practice comments were filmed, but the audio is basically just bits of Texas accent masked by 17 successive jets flying overhead- so here are a few of the more important insights/nuggets.

On Sam Jones responding positively to Graham's critiques:

"Without conflict you can't get better."

On livening up the practices:

"You'll see Christian Sam get a big hit and everybody's fired up. Why do we wait for that?"

On the players who get to wear the flame helmets in practice:

"It's for relentless effort- playing fast but efficient. The Tillman jersey is a higher standard, the helmet has everything to do with football. To wear the Tillman jersey you have to be a scholar-baller."

On Lloyd Carrington wearing the flame helmet:

"You have to work to keep it. He shouldn't have had it on today, he should have lost it."

On why the visual recognitions are geared toward starts and upperclassmen:

"Our very best players have to embrace the grind. Most coaches are yelling and screaming at the backups and taking it easy on the starters. We're trying to push and elevate that upper half."

On De'Chavon Hayes:

"We're challenging him every day, and he's responded well." Went on to compare Hayes to DJ Foster.

Graham also talked at length about Herb Sendek's character, Jordan Simone's leadership ability, and Nick Ralston's bowling ball running style.
