General thoughts on the game:

"I don’t have anything to say, but that was difficult. We are proud of how our guys responded in the second half. Obviously we have a lot of people not used to the cut blocking and a lot of the injuries and that hurts quite a bit. The biggest thing was hats off to Cal Poly. The triple option is honestly difficult. We’ve played it before we just didn’t handle the cut blocking. They were cut blocking us up front. We started off pretty good and then we just had people not taking their assignments. You have to be disciplined and take the dive. We could not get our ends to close on the dive."

"The second quarter was chaotic, but I’m proud of how the guys responded in the second half. I’m proud of how as many injuries as we had, we had guys filling in. Tashon and Cherry played a whole bunch. Obviously the Dual Inferno was amazing and what an incredible atmosphere that is. They never stopped cheering the entire game. All that matters is that you are 1-0. Obviously games like that are catastrophic if they go the other way. When you go and win them, they make you better. I’m really proud of how our guys responded in the second half. It was a little bit cleaner of a game and there wasn’t too many penalties. We are proud of how our guys responded."

On the physicality of the dive and cut blocks:

"We did a lot of the similar things we’ve done. I was a wishbone quarterback so I have a pretty good idea of what to do with it. They were just getting us cut down and nothing they did was anything we didn’t work on. There is only so mays you can run it. They were just getting us cut down. They were getting the backside cut down and we weren’t closing down and taking the dive. We were too concerned about the quarterback."

"It was really just during the second quarter were we couldn’t slow them down. They bobbled a snap and our guys saw it and took off running and got a cheap touchdown. Other than that our secondary played really good. Losing Armand was disruptive for us. Both corners played really well, but they didn’t have to do much. It was just assignment, and I’ll have to look at it. It’s hard to prepare in a week for that. I’m a no vote for ever doing that ever again in the preseason. All the cut blocking, you see all the ankles and the amount of guys we had on crutches at the end of that game. I wish they would outlaw that. Wish they couldn’t do it. That’s something they are very good at, and they did a good job on. We weren’t getting t our responsibility. We hard to try and make adjustments and we had some confusion."
