Traffic Advisory – Homecoming & Tempe IRONMAN
Due to ASU’s Homecoming and Ironman Tempe events, please be advised of traffic advisories that may affect Sun Devil Athletics’ home events from Friday, Nov. 22 through Sunday, Nov. 24.
Below are the road closures and suggested routes:
ASU football vs. Oregon -- Saturday, November 23 at 5:30 p.m.
Due to ASU’s Homecoming and Ironman Tempe events, please be advised of traffic advisories that may affect Sun Devil Athletics’ home events from Friday, Nov. 22 through Sunday, Nov. 24.
Below are the road closures and suggested routes:
- Rio Salado Pkway will be closed between Mill Ave. and Ash Ave. from late Friday night through late Sunday night
- Parking for fans attending Friday night's wrestling match between the No. 5 Sun Devils and No. 1 Penn State can park FOR FREE in Structure 7 (Packard Structure)!
- On Friday, November 22 at 7:00 p.m. University Drive will be closed between College Ave. and Veterans Way.
- On Friday, November 22, at 10:00 p.m. University Ave. will be closed from Mill Ave. to Rural Rd.
- On Saturday, November 23rd, at approximately 2:30 pm, eastbound University Ave. will open from Mill Ave. to Forest Ave. to allow football traffic parking; however, westbound and eastbound traffic will remain closed from Forest Ave. to Rural Rd. for the ASU Block Party.
- No road closures but expect a high volume of students at the base of A Mountain near transit center
- Expected attendance is approximately 6,000
- Doors open around 6 p.m. and match begins at 7:00 p.m.
- Rio Salado will be closed between Mill Ave. and Ash Ave. the entire weekend

- Rio Salado Pkwy, between Priest Ave. and Ash Ave. will be open after 11:00 a.m.
- Ironman Expo/Village opens @ Tempe Beach Park, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
ASU football vs. Oregon -- Saturday, November 23 at 5:30 p.m.
- There will be several restrictions in place related to ASU Homecoming.
- Veterans is closed in front of Stadium, between College Ave. and 6th St.

- Access to business on Rio Salado Pkwy, between Mill Ave. and Rural Rd. should be made by:
- n/b Mill Ave from Curry to e/b Rio
- n/b Ash to e/b 3rd Street, 3rd Street to n/b Mill, Mill to e/Rio
- No w/b traffic on Rio from McClintock, and no w/b traffic on University from McClintock to Mill.
- NOTE: No access post event from Scottsdale/202 or Rio Salado/Rural from beginning of 3rd quarter to an hour after game (2 hours).
- Set up begins at approximately 4 a.m.
- Roadway cleared by 5:30 p.m.
- Access to Rio Salado between Mill and Rural to businesses (State Farm, Salt, Hayden Ferry, Etc..) on north side of Rio Salado can only be made from Scottsdale/202 area traveling s/b. All traffic s/b on Scottsdale will be sent w/b on Rio to n/b Mill Avenue Bridge. Officers will be metering traffic through to avoid large vehicles getting along course
- Access to Sun Devil Stadium and Desert Financial Arena should be made from Priest using University from the west or the 101 and University from the east. Avoid Scottsdale Rd and McClintock Dr. if trying to get north/south of Rio Salado.
