Just for the helluvit was surfing around looking at what we will be facing in 6 months
They return their entire defense that was the 11th "best" in the Mountain West in 2020 allowing 482 ypg (8th in Pass D allowing 227 thru the air and 12th in Rush D allowing 255 per game on the ground, 12th in Scoring D allowing 38 ppg)
So while, like any college team, they will be greatly improved with experience across the board, this will most likely be a defense that we pound into submission on the ground (mighty Wyoming ran for 400 yards on them) and use the pass to work on our season preparation
Their leading tackler is from Chandler HS, Bryce Jackson, a 5'8" SS who averaged 7 TTs per game and who will want to impress in AZ
On offense they return everyone to the 10th "best" Mountain West O averaging 330 total yards (8th in Passing O with 188 per game, 6th in Rushing O with 145 and 11th in Scoring O with 17.3)
Their returning starter at QB, Max Gilliam, threw for a miserable 5.3 ypa and had 5 TDs thru the air and 4 INTs in 6 games (He was also their 2nd leading rusher with 10 carries for 41 yds per game)
Their leading rusher Charles Williams avereaged 19 carries/82 yds/4.3 against some very bad defenses
Their leading receiver Kyle Williams averaged 6 receptions for 71 yds, 12,2
They also have a weak punter and average place kicker
We should dominate UNLV and hopefully starting with the opening drive. Win the flip, take the ball and drive it the distance
No need for 45 yd+ FGs in this game
Not a lot to get excited about in what should be an butt stompin but hope to see a buncha rookies in the game (like Collins/Hill/Regan/Stansbury/Alexander/Williams/Miller/Bethea/Veikoso/Conyers/Johnson/Gentry/Czaplicki...............but realistically expect to see about half of those when there are so many other non-rookie true frosh chomping at the bit for reps
