Was listening to The Herd on Fox Sports, his new home, today and he said that the Trojans played 13 true freshmen against Arkansas St this past weekend in a game the Trojans won easily, 55-6...
Why..??
According to an article in the LA Daily News after the game, it was because the Trojans needed the influx to make up for deficiencies at various spots, with the most pressing being the OL, where three true FR replaced the starting guys so they could get experience, etc...
Sark is doing this because he figures it's an "all or nothing" now deal...he cannot afford to red-shirt a bunch of players who can improve the Trojans chances of winning this season...
Ideally, the coaching staff would like to RS these players but they don't have that luxury even though the Trojans are thought to have more talent than just about anyone else in the PAC...
I hope Graham and his staff do exactly the same thing with many of our very talented true FR as that is the only way they will get better, and it will improve our chances of winning this season and next, I have no doubt...
Anyway, thought that development was very, very interesting...
