Location: Kajikawa practice fields
Attire: Pads
Media availability: 21 minutes
Guests: none that I saw
Tillman Jersey: none (Tim White was back in the maroon #12)
En Verde (No contact): OL Marshal Nathe, OL Tyson Rising, DB Maurice Chandler, WR Jalen Harvey, LB Marcus Ball, LB Khaylan Thomas, LS Mitchell Fraboni,
En Verde Participando: (Limited): WR Jalen Harvey, DB Maurice Chandler
Out of green: LB Salamo Fiso, DB James Johnson
Takeaway drill: Emphasis continues to be placed on turnovers and has been something the Sun Devils have worked on every day of camp.
Today included a drill where the defender would shed a block, force a fumble and recover it along with the standard scoop-and-score and tackling drills.
Team (11-on-0 offense only):
First team: QB Brady White, RB Demario Richard, RB Kalen Ballage, WR N'Keal Harry, WR Tim White, WR Cam Smith, LT Evan Goodman, LG Sam Jones, C Stephon McCray, RG Quinn Bailey, RT Zach Robertson.
Second team: QB Manny Wilkins, RB Jason Lewis, WR Jalen Harvey, WR Fred Gammage, WR Ellis Jefferson, LT Steve Miller, LG Alex Losoya, C A.J. McCollum, RG Cohl Cabral, RT Zach Robertson.
Notes: A different look on the first team today as freshman WR N'Keal Harry made an appearance on the first team on the outside. We would like to see him versus the first-team defense but that wasn't in the cards today.
Redshirt freshman QB Brady White took first-team snaps for the second day in a row while redshirt sophomore QB Manny Wilkins ran with the second team.
Two days is hardly a pattern to say a quarterback is emerging - they're probably just going for an even number of reps for both QBs - but it's definitely worth monitoring.
As for anything else, it's hard to glean much from an 11-on-0 period but White looked comfortable moving in the tempo of the offense.
The 'W' Drill:
The offense lined up across from the defense for the W drill today. It was pretty even with the offense scoring a few times and the defense forcing some good stops, notably from junior DL Koron Crump and junior LB DJ Calhoun.
I happened to catch Harry block a DB (I believe it was redshirt senior Eric Lauderdale) and Harry did a good job, blocking him outside and eventually tossing him to the ground.
