Wednesday’s practice saw a lot better energy and execution than Tuesday’s practice. The players today only in shoulder pads and helmets. As the media walked in, there were a lot of hollering and yelling, setting the scene for the last practice of the week open to the media before Saturday's game.

Shortly after the break ended the team stretch, the team jogged over to the other field for special teams. Here today, instead of a field goal emphasis, there were about five groups working. Some returners catching punts, while others short kickoffs. Assistant coach Charlie Ragle’s emphasis today was with punt rushers taking an angle on punts. Dee Ford, Chris Edmonds, and Jordan Clark taking direction here.

A quick ball security period saw ball carriers either one-on-one with defenders or with blockers on multiple defenders. As that portion came and went, team tempo followed.

Kenny Dillingham set up situational third downs as Jaden Rashada came out onto the field. Rashada started shaky. His first ball to Bryce Pierre was complete for a first down. The second play looked like miscommunication as Dee Ford dropped an interception. A ball went out of bounds before a ball was dropped again but by Josiah Cox for yet another almost near interception. Trenton Bourguet came in after and went 2-4 with a quick completion, but the last completion looked like a would-be sack.

After the tempo segment, the offense, in particular, got into another team segment against the scout team. This seemed to be more of an install period as the offense was running plays and getting into sets that have been apparent the last two days, and we will probably see a good chunk of them against Oklahoma State. It was here as well that Kyson Brown emerged with the first team, especially with DeCarlos Brooks's conservative role today during heavy team segments.

During this time with the offense, the defensive individual drills got rolling. Summarizing most of the positions, defensive backs worked against scout receivers running route combinations. Here defensive backs not only went over coverage responsibilities but saw Brian Ward run some route drills too. Linebackers and defensive linemen were in similar situations getting to the quarterback. Linebackers shedding a running back block while defensive linemen were stunting before rushing.

Going back into a team segment, there were two drives that were quickly ran one by each quarterback. Rashada was 2-2 with a rush added by Brown. Here though, the defensive line led by BJ Green pressured and got to Rashada on the last play. On the second drive led by Bourguet, Bourguet was also 2-2 with a nice throw to Andre Johnson. A Javen Jacobs run set up a last play that was again blown up by Green and Clayton Smith, which led to a Blazen Lono-Wong sack.

Staying on the offensive side of the ball, there was a very elongated team segment for the offense that saw short drives go back and forth between the first and second groups. After a fumbled snap to start, Rashada’s first drive was highlighted by an across-the-body downfield dime to Xavier Guillory. This connection really blooming and will be crucial this season moving forward.

Moving to the redzone, Rashada got it going against the scout team as after two drops, Rashada hit Jalin Conyers in the back corner of the endzone and found Ryan Morgan on a delayed release. After some routes on air, Rashada came back and dropped two more scores. Another to Conyers and one to Elijhah Badger.

As both sides of the ball came together, the offense worked swiftly, as most of their completions were very quick. The aggressive pass rush did not get much of a chance, while receivers worked quickly to get open on various routes. Right now, it does appear that Bram Walden take hold of the left tackle starting spot, and seeing Joey Ramos at other positions on the front five aside from right guard is a possibility too.

7v7 saw both sides of starters take the field. The offense dominated as Rashada had three more touchdowns keeping a high tempo, and working the entire field. Troy Omeire and the tight ends stood out. This period concluded with a near pick by Keith Abney II on Bourguet.

Moving into more scout reps, this time had Bourguet clicking as he had two touchdowns; one tentative as Cam Skattebo caught a pass and would have taken it to the house. The second being over the middle again to Morgan. A lot of quick routes were apparent, but Rashada took his time and had yet another deep ball completed to Guillory.

As much as the offense did better, one last team segment saw the defense get the last laugh. On what looked to be the start of a drive like situation, Rashada's first throw was intercepted on the right side by Chris Edmonds, which was followed by the final horn of practice. The offense consoled Rashada, but that was a sour end to a better practice than yesterday.
